One day I went out to explore Bay Farm Island as part of a photographic contest. I’ve always been drawn to street signs, don’t ask me why, and this neighborhood, with all its dead ends, was full of them. I went on a mission to take each one. I had originally planned to set them against a background of the lights of the Bay Bridge that I had taken the night before in the park. But when I combined the shots I realized that they took away from each other. They were diminished. I finally decided to just go with what I had been drawn to in the first place. The variety I had found in the surfaces and colors of all these similar signs.
