  • AOC 2012

Sometimes one sees in their longtime friend an expression or reaction they’ve never seen before and so it is this month at the Frank Bette Center where we see the face of Alameda in at least 48 different ways. It’s one of those towns where you can take a new route home and see a building or detail you’ve never seen before. From now until June 1st, the walls are covered with the work of 48 photographers who each had 48 hrs. in which to document and record their randomly drawn 1/48th of the map of Alameda. A month elapsed during which they percolated on and manipulated their images into the works seen here in this important annual show. The only rule was : anything goes.
